We are pleased to share the closing of our most recent strategic cross-border advisory assignment Babo Botanicals | Mustela, which follows two other successful transactions in the Luxury Goods sector; the sale of Dries Van Noten to Puig, and the sale of Mayor’s Jewelers to Aurum, owner of Watches of Switzerland and Goldsmiths.
Vendôme Global Partners (“Vendôme”) was the exclusive financial advisor to Expanscience | Mustela, the French family-owned pharmaceutical and dermo-cosmetics company with sales of c. $300 million, in their acquisition of Babo Botanicals, the well-known U.S. botanically-infused mineral skin care brand for babies and adults with sensitive skin.

Our firm conducted an extensive review and strategic mapping of the U.S. personal care market, which resulted in a variety of options for Expanscience, and the selection of Babo Botanicals as the ideal acquisition partner with the most compelling development opportunities.
The strategic acquisition of Babo Botanicals will allow Expanscience to strengthen its presence in the baby and family personal care category, with the addition of a business and brand that are complementary to its own Mustela brand, a leader in the global premium natural and organic sensitive skin care segment. Babo Botanicals will augment Mustela’s product lines, customers and expertise, particularly in the natural skin care and mineral-based sun care categories. Mustela will also gain access to important U.S. distributors, specialized in premium, natural and safe products, as well as to key retailers including Whole Foods where Babo Botanicals is launching nationwide. Furthermore, Babo Botanicals’ growth will be accelerated both in the U.S. and internationally through its partnership with Mustela.
